For Christian Marital and Pre-Marital Counseling, as well as Individual counseling for depression, anxiety and trauma, many people have found help in the service I provide. I am a highly trained psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience treating moderately to severely distressed individuals, high-conflict couples, and families within the context of Christian faith.

While I have provided outpatient therapy since 1993, I have also served as Director of the Department of Psychology at Ramapo Ridge Psychiatric Hospital in Wyckoff, NJ, and also served at Minirth-Meier New Life’s inpatient clinic in Anaheim, CA, and so have significant experience treating extreme levels of depression and anxiety.
I particularly enjoy helping couples find hope and healing in their marriages, and helping parents mend relationships with their children. As a trained and certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, I am able to help unmarried couples prepare for a happiness in their new life together.

COVID-19 STATEMENT

While the COVID-19 outbreak continues, Dr. MacArthur is providing psychotherapy through three different methods: 1) video therapy; 2) telephone therapy; 3) outdoor therapy.
Video Therapy is being provided through the Doxy.me telehealth app, which has been approved by the American Psychological Association.  This is often the preferred method if you need sessions in the evening.
Phone Therapy is preferred by some for the excellent audio properties.  Some find it less distracting than video therapy for this reason, and of course, it is as flexible as video therapy.
Outdoor Therapy provides you with the opportunity to meet with Dr. MacArthur in person.  Sitting or walking in the local park provides the safety of outdoor social distancing while enjoying the psychological benefits of being outdoors, along with the physiological benefits of walking, if you choose to.  Some prefer to do this on more park-like property, while others have their therapy while hiking on the local woodland trails around Oakland or West Milford.
Please contact Dr. MacArthur to discuss whichever option appeals to you.
